Syrian Committee for Human Rights – MAD and Kurdish Organization for Defending Human Rights and Public Freedoms in Syria – DAD report that Hassan Abdel-Kader Nassan was arrested by Security Services in the province of Aleppo, on 27 September 2010. Hassan Abdel-Kader Nassan, born in 1979, and from Afrin is isolated from the outside world, and there is no information about where he is, why he was arrested or the reason for his detention.
Syrian Committee for Human Rights – MAD and Kurdish Organization for Defending Human Rights and Public Freedoms in Syria – DAD condemn and deplore the detention of Hassan Abdel-Kader Nassan, and express deep concern about his fate. They call upon security services to stop making arbitrary arrests that take place outside the law, and which constitute a flagrant violation of the rights and fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Syrian Permanent Constitution of 1973, and pursuant to a State of Emergency and martial law declared in the country since 8 March 1963.
Syrian Committee for Human Rights – MAD and Kurdish Organization for Defending Human Rights and Public Freedoms in Syria – DAD state that the detention of Mr. Hassan Abdel-Kader Nassan is arbitrary and outside the scope of the law, and it constitutes a violation of Syria’s obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which was ratified on 12 April 1969 and came into force on 23 March 1976, specifically Articles 9 , 14, 19, 21 and 22.
MAD and DAD demand his immediate release and freedom for all prisoners of opinion and expression who are in the detention system; stop arbitrary detentions, which is a crime against freedom and personal security; the abolition of the State of Emergency and martial law, and they call for democracy. They also call upon the Syrian government to implement the recommendations of international human rights treaties, and to fulfill its international obligations under the signature of the international covenants on human rights.
