Five BDP members arrested in Istanbul

Repression goes on against members of BDP

Five members of BDP (Peace and Democracy Party), who were detained during house raids in Beyoğlu the other day, were arrested by the court they were taken to give evidence.

Following the march in Beyoğlu/İstanbul on the 12th anniversary of the conspiracy against Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan in 9 October 1998, 10 people were detained by police at house raids.

Among the detainees, 5 children under 18 were released after the questioning, while 5 BDP members in İstanbul Police Office Anti-Terror Branch were sent to court. After giving their statements to the prosecutor in Beşiktaş İstanbul Court, 5 BDP members were sent to court and arrested with the allegation of being “organization members”.
