Extension for cross border military operations granted

The memorandum, which allows Turkish army to carry out cross border military operations on Federate Kurdistan Region, has been extended for another year while PKK guerrillas are called to retreat from borders.

The Prime Ministry Memorandum concerning the extension of government authorization for cross border operations for one more year, has been accepted in closed session.

The closed session presided by Council Deputy Chairman Nevzat Pakdil lasted nearly three hours and 15 minutes. Among 451 participator MPs, there were 428 affirmative votes and 18 black balls and an abstaining vote.

Following Interior Minister Beşir Atalay’s informing about PKK, political party groups took the floor on the subject of memorandum.

The Prime Ministry Memorandum prescribes the extension of government authorization for cross border operations on Federate Kurdistan Region to 1 more year by 17 October.
