18th International Festival of Culture Culture in Cologne

Kurdish Info 03.09.2010-We public YEKKOMs Decleration on 18th Internationla Festival of Kurdish Culture with tittle " 'FREEDOM FOR ÖCALAN – PEACE IN KURDISTAN -SECURING OUR EXISTENCE AND WINNING OUR FREEDOM': After the tragic incident at the Love Parade in Duisburg in which 21 people died, the town of Dinslaken decided not to host a large event such as the Festival of Kurdish Culture. Also due to technical and administrative reasons, a new venue and date for the festival had to be found. YEK-KOM apologises to the Kurdish people for these changes and any inconvenience caused. Both the content and programme of the festival remain unchanged.
We want to celebrate Kurdish culture under the slogan of 'Securing our existence and winning our freedom'. The festival is dedicated to five Kurds* who were recently executed in East-Kurdistan. The focus of the event will be on possibilities for democratic autonomy in Kurdistan, the military coup of 12th September 1980 and the persistent physical, cultural and political massacre of the Kurds in Turkey.

Coaches are leaving at 9pm on 17th September from the Kurdish Community Centre in Green Lanes, London direct to the festival. Return ticket costs £50 and it is £10 entry to the festival itself. For further information or to book your place, please contact Deniz on 07553 801070 or Zulfu 07771 652395.
