Karayılan calls Israel to cut Turkey military ties

Murat Karayılan, a prominent leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), called Israel to cut Turkish military ties in a rare interview with Israel's Channel 2 television.

"We demand that Israel stop assisting those seeking to crush our struggle for freedom" Karayilan said.

"Our problem lies in the military ties between Israel and Turkey. Those ties harm us. The most advanced technology that Turkey uses against our guerrilla fighters and Kurdish civilians comes from Israel."

Karayilan called Israel to cut military ties with Ankara government.

Turkey and Israel relations hit historic low after Israeli soldiers killed 9 Turkish citizens in a raid to a ship attempting to enter Gazza Strip.

Despite the incident the two countries still have military and economic ties.

Israel has in the past supplied Turkey with military equipment, including unmanned drones that Ankara uses against PKK guerillas.
