Two villagers wounded by Iranian soldiers

Two Kurdish villagers were wounded yesterday in result of Iranian fire in Turkey-Iran border region.

Iranian soldiers opened fire on Kurdish villagers who were smuggling oil to the Turkish side yesterday. Two of the villagers were wounded.

The incident took place near Kocakoy, a village of Van's Baskale district.

Iranian soldiers from Kozalas outpost opened fire on four Iranian Kurds smuggling oil to Turkish side.

Ghaffar Xalili (22) was wounded and was under Turkish custody with fellow Kurd, Amin Mouradi (23).

They are waiting for deportation after Xalili's treatment.

The other wounded returned to Iran, locals said.

39 killed in 2010

Last week a Kurd was killed by Iranian soldiers on the border.

Turkish and Iranian soldiers killed 39 Kurds who were trying to cross the border illegally since January.

According to ANF's records the 53 Kurdish villagers were killed in Turkey-Iran border between July 2009 - January 2010.
