Turkish police arrested Kurdish activists in Siirt and Hakkari
12 Kurds who were arrested for taking part in the funeral for the deceased HPG guerrilla Feyzullah Koyun held in Siirt on 28 August appeared before Siirt Heavy Criminal Court. It is reported that while the court released one of the detainees sent the other 11 to the prison for the charges of ‘chanting illegal slogans’ and ‘disseminating propaganda for an outlawed organisation’.
In the house raid conducted by the Turkish security forces last week, 16 persons including 4 children were detained. The children were released after they testified in the prosecutor office while the adults remained in custody.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Turkish police raided several houses in Hakkari city and detained 4 persons including Naif Kayacan, the former representative of the Human Rights Association (IHD) in Hakkari. The families stated that they have not been informed about the reason for the arrests.
It is also reported that 4 beekeepers who were arrested on their way back home 3 days ago are expected to appear before the public prosecutor.
