Explosion kills Turkish soldier

A Turkish soldier was killed in an explosion in Mount Cirav during an operation against Kurdish guerrillas.

After last night's clash between Kurdish guerrillas and village guards which left two guards seriously wounded Turkish army started a military operation in Mount Cirav.

A remote controlled roadside bomb exploded when a military vehicle was passing near Cirpili village this morning.

Turkish media reported one soldier killed in the explosion.

There is no statement from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) about the incident.

Locals says the military operation continues while Cobra helicopters bombards suspected guerrilla bases.
