Woman sentenced to death died in prison
Following the torture to death of a detainee in Urmiye Jail in East Kurdistan; this time, a woman named Efsane D, who was sentenced to death, lost her life due because of her sickness.
According to the internet site named Hrana; a woman named Efsane D has lost her life at İmam Humeyni Hospital, where she was brought last night due to a brain disease she was diagnosed with in the jail. The woman prisoner had been taken to a hospital in Mahabad a few days ago and was transferred to İmam Humeyni Hospital in Urmiye only last night.
It is stated that Efsane and her brother were sentenced to death with the accusation of keeping drugs, while there is still no information about the date of the arrest and the date of judgment.
However, this death in Urmiye coincided with the 3. day after the torture to death of a prisoner. Behmen Mesudi, who was held in a oneman cell in central prison, lost his life on 22 August with the hits of a prsion officer named Xanzade on his head. With the death news of her son, Mesudi’s mother came in front of Jails main door and set herself on fire.
In the first six months of this year, at least 7 prisoners have been reported to have died unexpectedly in East Kurdistan, especially in Urmiye Jail. With the death news of Mesudi, this number has went up to 8.
