Museum could be housed in converted Ulucanlar prison
Revolutionary Federation of 78 Generation is preparing to establish a Museum for the military coup of 12 September 1980. The first step of the Museum will be an exhibition to be held in Ankara between 1-15 September.
It is reported that the Federation applied to convert Ulucanlar prison into a museum however it has been rejected. The applications for Mamak, Buca or Sinop prisons however have not been responded by the officials yet.
Filiz Yalçın of the federation said to ANF that the aim of establishing such a museum is “updating the history” and they will collect the materials to exhibit in the museum, including letters from prisoners, torture equipments and prison cells.
