Mohammad Amin Agoushi is on humger strike since 15 August in Iranian prison


Mohammad Amin Agoushi, a death row Kurdish political prisoner, who is held in the Urumiyeh Central Prison has gone on hunger strike since Sunday August 15th.

According to the Mokrian News Agency, he is protesting the limitations imposed on him and the fact that he is held in the ward for murderers.

Retired teacher Mohammad Amin Agoushi has been sentenced to death by firing squad along with Iraj Mohammadi and Ahmad Pouladkhani. He was detained a year ago and charged with espinage by the 2nd branch of the Western Azarbayijan Military Court. The 31st branch of the appeals court upheld the sentence.

A Kurdish teacher who was sentenced to death penalty by the Iranian regime started a hunger strike against the sentence.

Mohammad Amin Agoushi was arrested together with Ehmed Pola Xani in Piranshar province in 2007 and sentenced to death penalty in October 2009 on account of ‘espionage’ and ‘aiding and abetting Kurdish parties’. Aguşi was a school teacher in Xanenişîn city.

There are several other Kurdish opponents given death penalty in Iran. The file Kurdish women Zeyneb Celaliyan who was also sentenced to death penalty because of supporting PJAK has been sent to execution directorate and her fate remains unknown.

On 9 May Ferzad Kemanger and 3 other Kurdish teachers and a monarchy supporter were executed in Evin prison in Teheran. The bodies have been buried by the officials and the graves are still unknown to the families.

At least 7 Kurds have been executed on account of supporting PKK and PJAK since 2007. İhsan Fetahiyan was executed on 11 November 2009 and Fesih Yasemini on 6 January 2010. A Turkish national Hasan Hikmet Demir was the first PJAK member who was executed. His execution took place in 2007.

It is reported that there 18 Kurdish political prisoners 8 of whom are from PJAK case who may face death penalty.

The names of the prisoner charged for links with PJAK: 1-Hebibulla Letifi (Student), 2-Rustem Arkiya, 3-Zeyneb Celaliyan, 4-Enwer Rustemi, 5-Seyd Sami Huseyni, 6- Seyd Cemal Muhemedi, 7-Huseyin Xizri, 8-Hebibulla Gulperi Pur.

Other Kurdish prisoners: 9-Şerko Maarfi, 10-Mistefa Selimi Eyluyi, 11-Mehemed Emin Aguşi, 12-Reşîd Axkendî, 13-Ehmed Puladxanî , 14-Hesen Talî, 15-Îrec Mihemedi, 16. Mihemed Emin Abdullahi, 17. Qadir Muhammed Zade, 18-Eziz Mihemedzade.
