Ocalan warned that he will refuse Turkish government policy of diversion on Kurdish Question
Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan welcomed Kurdistan Workers Party’s (PKK) acceptance of his ceasefire proposal and warned that he will refuse Turkish governments policy of diversion on Kurdish Question.
Ocalan’s statement came after PKK’s unilateral ceasefire to last until September 20.
In his weekly meeting with his lawyers Ocalan said he approves PKK’s ceasefire statement and thanked the organization for their acceptance of his proposals.
“Guerrillas won’t attack the military outposts. They also certainly won’t use remote controlled bombs unless it’s very necessary to defend themselves. But as I mentioned before guerrillas can do anything if Turkish army aims to destroy them and if there is no other way to guarantee survival” he said.
Ocalan warned that this process can lead to peace but it can also lead to a large scale conflict.
He called on democrats, intellectuals and NGOs to show their best effort to pave the way for a peaceful solution to the Kurdish Question. “The NGOs that called for a ceasefire must contribute to this process” he said.
The Kurdish leader also told his lawyers that he won’t accept Turkish government policy of diversion. He described the ceasefire period as “a test for ruling AKP’s sincerity.”
Ocalan said that he doesn’t believe in political solutions involving the creation of a Kurdish state. “We only want the state to dissolve racist-fascist elements in its structure” he said.
If a solution involving the creation of a Kurdish state becomes a current issue then the Kurdish Question will become insoluble like the Palestinian's, Kurdish leader warned.
Talking about the referendum on amendments of the Constitution, Ocalan called on Kurds to think about their positions in the Constitutional referendum to be held on September 12.
