Necirwan Barzani calls for bilateral ceasefire

Barzani hopes all parties ready to use this opportunity

Former prime minister of Federal Kurdistan Government Necirvan Barzani, welcomed a unilateral ceasefire announced Friday by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) against Turkey and called for a bilateral ceasefire.

“The declaration of a unilateral ceasefire by the PKK is a good decision. We are pleased to see this positive decision” Barzani said.

Barzani pointed out that Kurdish Question can not be solved by military methods.

Barzani said he hoped that the Turkish government for its part will welcome the ceasefire by developing it into a bilateral one.

“We hope that [all the sides] consider this ceasefire to be a new and peaceful opportunity, making it bilateral and permanent, putting an end to violence and killing,” he said.

“We will very much appreciate any peaceful attempt taken by Turkey.” Barzani added.
