NORTHERN KURDISTAN, Turkey -- Kurdish youths have declared self determination in a district following the protest demonstration on 28 July against the lynch attempts in Dörtyol/ Hatay and in İnegöl/Bursa, a group of young people in Yüksekova/Hakkari have declared autonomy in Esentepe District.
Kurds have been struggling for the last hundred years for self determination and peace coexistence of all the nations in the region, but because of some regional and international political, economic and military interest Kurdish struggle for self determination and formation of democratic society and democratic government have been brutally suppressed, which brought about destructions of thousands of Kurdish villages, and mass murder of inhabitants.
It could be stated since the last 30 years of the Kurdish struggle, Kurds have reached the pick of the struggle with the adaptation of new method of struggling and self governing. Announcement or declaration of district as autonym is a direct result of continous and tired less efforts of the people of Northern Kurdistan, who have been brutally oppressed and suppressed by the Turkish regimes since the emergence of new Turkish state in 1920.
It has been recorded that police is trying to set foot in the district and to get a grip on the situation while locating panzers at many points in the district.
The Kurdish youth have renamed the district after the announcement of autonomy, it is now known as “Martyr Beritan District”.
After closing Yüksekova-Van way to traffic, young demonstrators lighted a fire in Esentepe District, which they renamed as “Martyr Beritan District”. Chanting slogans and distributing leaflets, the group stated that they renamed other 9 more districts and added; “We will be declaring autonmy in this district soon.”
It is also of value to know that the Turkish policies are pushing the Turkey to the edge of Civil War between the Turkish and Kurdish people whom have been living in the region for centuries.
