The trial on the murder of university student Şerzan Kurt in Muğla was transferred to Eskişehir Court following an application by Muğla Governorship. The reason for the decision was said to be “lack of staff members”.
The application of Muğla Governorship concerning the Şerzan Kurt case, whose first trial will be held on 10 August in Muğla, demanded the case to be transferred to another city. The reason of the application is that security won’t be provided as Muğla is a tourism region and security staffs are on duty in coastal regions. The court approved the demand of the governorship and transferred the trial to Eskişehir. High Court 9. Desk held an emergency meeting and approved the transfer of the case to Eskişehir due to security reasons.
According to the decision, following the first trial on 10 August, the case will proceed in Eskişehir.
Defender lawyers said that the trial is being kept out of the public opinion. The lawyers stated that an “Justice and Brotherhood Initiative” was founded in Izmir for this case and has been making preparations for some time.
The family and the lawyers of Şerzan Kurt will be holding a press conference today at 16:00 in Office Labour Union (BES) İzmir Branch concerning the progressions at the case.
