Court case against anti-Kurdish militia in Germany

01-12-2009

Cologne – Four members of an anti-Kurdish association are accused of carrying out a conspiracy to carry out crimes and violating the ban on carrying arms in Germany. The judge is willing to offer the suspects a compromise reports rundschau-online.de on Monday.

The four men in the age from 43 to 50 years from Turkey, were operating from an apartment in Cologne run by a 50th old ring leader. The group called itself the ‘national militia organization of Europe’. The Turkish nationalist group said it wanted to fight against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and personally enrich themselves. The group staged an attempt to rob a wealth alleged PKK businessman, but he got away and the German police foiled a robbing attempt of a shop run by Kurds.

The presiding judge, Karl-Heinz Schumacher offered the defendants a compromise, if they would be willing to confess, he would offer them a lower sentence for shortening the court process. The next trial date is upcoming Friday.
