PKK youth threatens Germany with car burnings

01-12-2009

Berlin - A group calling itself the Apo Youth Initiative claimed the torching of four cars in the city quarter Wedding of Berlin reports the pro-Kurdish news agency ANF on 28 November.

The PKK supporters say they want to protest the hostile attitude of the German police against Kurds. The group says if the repression continues, more cars will be burned.

On the 31st anniversary of the establishment of the PKK, there were several PKK demonstrations in Germany, although this was forbidden by the authorities. The PKK was outlawed by the Germany authorities in 1993, despite protests of the police, saying the PKK would go underground.

In Turkey hundreds of cars were torched out of protest against Turkish military operations against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), now Kurds in the diaspora are also doing this in Germany.
