Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan: Suhrab Karimi, a Kurdish student activist, is arrested *

Suhrab Karimi, a Kurdish student activist, was arrested in Qurwa in Kurdistan province by the security forces on Sunday night just before the start of the student day on Monday, 07 December 2009. It has been reported that a group of locals gathered in front of Mr Karimi’s house and prevented the authorities from arresting him. However, he was arrested at the end and was transferred to an unknown location.

Suhrab Karimi is a student activist who was previously arrested in 1386 (2007) at Tehran University during the Student day. He spent 76 days in section 209 of Evin prison and was finally released on surety of 150 million tomans. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 74 Lashes in April this year but this sentence was changed to monetary fine.
