Kamran Assa the brother of the deceased student Kianoosh Assa was arrested alongside Kianoosh’s friend Bijan Rezaei on 07 December 2009 midday in Tehran.
On the student day, 07 December 2009, the students at Tehran University of Science & Technology held a protest inside the university and invited Kamran Assa on behalf of Assa’s family to attend the gathering. However, he was arrested after the protest by the disciplinary forces at the entrance of the university with Bijan Rezaei.
Last night Kamran Assa contacted his family to inform them that he and Bijin have been arrested and they were not aware of the location of their detention.
The family of Kianoosh Assa and especially his mother are very worried about the safety of Kamran and Bijin.
Kianoosh Assa was an outstanding final-term student of petrol-chemical engineering on Master level at the University of Science & Technology and was killed by the government security forces during the protest of the disputed presidential election of 15 June 2009.
Fatemah Falah and Kamran Assa, mother and brother of Kianoosh have recently written a letter to the head of the Iran Judiciary and the Fact-finding committee of the Parliament to establish the suspicious circumstances of his death. They have also requested that those who committed this terrible crime should be arrested and punished.
