Selmas - Three Kurdish merchants were killed by security forces on Saturday in the border area of Shireh-Nay reports hrairan.org.
The Kurdistan Committee of HRA reports that on Saturday, December 5th, 2009, the security forces in the Kurdish border area of Shireh-Nay near Sardasht, opened fire on a truck carrying 3 Kurdish men. The truck caught fire as a result of the shooting and the 3 men died after severely burning.
The news medium Kurdistanmedia confirmed the report and identified the three Kurds as Bengin Sofizade, Pizishk Eseedi and Girman Umeri who drove between the villages of Shereni and Koran, when they were attacked.
The psychical remains of the three Kurdish victims weren’t given to the families yet. According to local sources, there were dozens of similar incidents in the recent months. The tensions have increased in the Kurdish regions of Iran. Recently there were also anti-government protests in Sanandaj.
Due to the lack of investment and job opportunities, a lot of Kurds are dependent on smuggling contraband.
