Tokat – Seven Turkish soldiers were killed in a clash with a militant group, three were wounded. The Turkish local governor said ‘some terrorists’ attacked Turkish gendarmerie troops near the village of Sazak.

The number of killed soldiers may go up, said Guler according to the Xinhua news agency, adding that the security forces are on their way to the site of the attack. The killed soldiers were Harun Arslanbey (Adana); Onur Bozdemir (Adıyaman), Kemal Pide (Ordu), Ferit Demir (Muş), Yakup Mutlu (Muş), Cengiz Sarıbaş (Giresun) and Fatih Yonca (Hatay)

The report did not mention which group the attackers belong, the militant Kurdistan Workers Party haven’t claimed the attack yet and said to be in ‘active self-defense’ mode, after the PKK claimed the government was trying to kill its imprisoned leader Abdullah Ocalan. The Turkish daily Hurriyet reported that the leftist group DHKP-C was also active in the area in the past.
