PKK general warns for war

Amsterdam - The PKK general Cemil Bayik has warned for a big war between Kurds and Turks. In a released statement to the ANF press agency, he says the new initiative of the Turkish government is based on ‘denial and destruction policy’.

The PKK general reminds the Kurds that ‘war is a big possibility’. Bayik said in his statement that there is not any progress and that the ‘attacks’ continue. Bayik warned that the PKK has had enough of the steps taken by Turkey. “If the Turkish regime do not take any steps there will be a big war.”

Cemil Bayik also heavily criticized the past of the Iraqi Kurdish political parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and said the Kurds should never forget their ‘treachery’ in their ‘participation in the international conspiracy against the PKK’ and their participation in the civil war against PKK.

The Turkish government said it’s working on a plan of democratic reforms to win over the Kurdish minority and erode popular support for the rebels. It also sought better ties with the Iraqi Kurds. But the Turkish premier Erdogan and the Turkish army have dismissed calls from Kurdish activists to stop military operations against the Kurdistan Workers Party. Several PKK-generals have expressed doubts on the Kurdish initiative of the AKP-government.

The Turkish top general Ilker Başbuğ ruled out any negotiations with the PKK on 22 September. “The only solution is that the terrorist organization lays down its weapons. You cannot reach anywhere with guns and blood,” he said, reported Hurriyet (Photo: yeniozgurpolitika.org).
