Drugs is now also threatening Kurdistan

Sulaimani- Anti-narcotics head Jalal Amin Bag says Iraqi Kurdistan is threathened by drugs. “The security forces are only able to seize 30% of the drugs that has been imported into the Kurdistan region,” he said.


According to Jalal Amin the Kurdish security forces still use old mechanisms to find narcotics. In the past 10 months, more then 45 people were arrested for using and trading drugs. Some were punished and others await their trial.

Jalal Amin warned this is a dangerous process. “All kinds of drugs were imported to Kurdistan this year. Most of them coming from Iran. The security chief said more should be done to combat the Kurdish drugs industry (Photo: ytmap.net ).
