Istanbul – Öcalan’s lawyer Ibrahim Bilmez is going to prison for 6 years and 3 months for being ‘ member of a terrorist organization’ .
Two other lawyers, Servet Ozen and Mehmet Bayraktar were acquitted. But Bilmez was prosecuted for his conversations with his client in Imrali.
Ocalan was arrested in 1999 and sentenced to life in prison. Ocalan is the only prisoner on the heavily guarded prison island Imrali and is allowed only visits from close relatives and his lawyers. Recently it became known that other prisoners are going to be transferred to Imrali.
