Earlier the Iraqi MP complained about Turkish and American interference. “The Turkish ambassador spent last 3 days at our parliament interfering in the election law and undermining Iraqi sovereignty. This is not acceptable!”
Earlier the vote on the Iraqi election law was postponed until Saturday. Radio Al Sawa quoted Iraqi MP Saleem al-Jaburi saying there is an agreement between parliamentary factions.
He said that the proposal that has won the acceptance of the political factions allows the elections to be held in Kirkuk and on the condition of forming a committee to examine the voting and if it was confirmed that there were more than 15 percent mistakes in the voter registrations then the elections should be held again.
Haider al-Abadi, a parliament member from Maliki's Dawa party also said an agreement is possible. “There's still no final agreement on election law at Iraqi Council of Representatives, but acceptable article on Kirkuk may be possible on Saturday and Sunday.”
Iraq's election law has been stalled for weeks as lawmakers argue over who should be allowed to vote in the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, claimed by both Arabs and Kurds. Lawmakers said they would meet again Saturday. One said it would not be a big problem to delay the January election by a few days reports AP (Photo: Rudaw).
