University student kidnapped in Sulemani, local paper

London (KurdishMedia.com) 04 January 2010: A student of the University of Sulemani was kidnapped and assaulted before allowing him to go free, reported Hawlati.info on Monday.

Dastan Rizgar, according to Hawlati, a student of the final year of the University of Sulemani, around 8:30 pm on Sunday close to the university, his car was stopped by a group of unidentified individuals, who were in two vehicles. After breaking his car windows, Rizgar was taken away. His mobile confiscated and after awhile allowed to go free, away from his place of kidnapped.

The security situation of Sulemani has been deteriorated after the election of Jul y 2009, in which the list of the two Kurdish parties, PUK and KDP, performed badly.

Sulemani is under the control of PUK, led by the President of Iraq Jalal Talabani.
