Kurdish Info 19.01.2010- AT THE EU PARLIAMENT FEBRUARY 3-4, 2010 The EU Turkey Civic Commission (EUTCC) will hold its sixth annual conference on EU Turkey and the Kurds at the EU Parliament in Brussels, Belgium February 3-4, 2010. The theme of the conference is "Turkey and the Kurdish conflict: Political dialogue & Peace-building"
This is a particularly important time to assess the situation given Turkey’s promising Kurdish Opening and the roadblock it has run into since the banning of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) on 11 December 2009 followed by the ensuing Turkish harassment and imprisonment of human rights advocates in Turkey. The EUTCC conference will address these and other important factors affecting Turkey’s EU accession process and the Kurdish issue. All those concerned with this important process are encouraged to support this important conference. Patrons include Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and Dr. Shirin Ebadi as well as Bianca Jagger, Professor Noam Chomsky, Yasar Kemal, and Leyla Zana.
