Six soldiers killed in southeast Turkey

Clashes between Turkish security forces and PKK rebels left six soldiers dead.

Clashes between Turkish security forces and Kurdish rebels in southeast Turkey on Tuesday left six soldiers dead and three others wounded, the army said.

Fighting erupted in a mountainous area near Eruh town in Siirt province during a security operation against rebels from the Turkey's Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), a statement on the general staff's website said.

Five soldiers died in that operation while three troops were wounded.
