More meeting underway for BDP to explain why it is boycotting the referendum
While Turkish press continues disseminating false allegations that BDP will loose its boycott decision for the upcoming constitution referendum the pro-Kurdish party is extending its boycott campaign.
BDP vice chair Nihat Oğraş said they will continue their campaign by organising more meetings and demonstration. He also said that their attitude is very clear from the beginning and loosing the boycott is out question. “The one who needs to change its approach is the Turkish government not the Kurds” added Oğraş.
Oğraş also said that the BDP campaign against the referendum started on 17 July will continue until 7 September and on 1 September, the peace day, BDP will hold a great peace meeting in Dersim. He further stated the boycott is supported not only by the Kurds but also by the Turkish democrats and the intellectuals.
BDP is boycotting the amendments in the constitution done by the ruling party AKP on count of the fact that the spirit of the current constitution which passed after the military coup of 12 September 1982 remains the same and the Kurdish identity is still not recognised after the amendments.
