In Syria, Kurds have no freedom of expression and human rights activists are repressed. It is known that Syrian security intelligence authorities penetrate the internet to prevent Syrian citizens having access to information. This continues the censorship within Syria, however there is a strong suspicion that this same authority is targeting websites outside Syria.

Kurdish websites appear to be a high priority for hacking by the Syrian authorities because they are defending human rights, and the latest target appears to be Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, edited by Rami Abdul Rahman from UK. The site was blocked for two days and the content was destroyed, but the website will rise from these ashes to fight again for people’s rights in Syria.

We at International Support Kurds in Syria Association – SKS applaud the Syrian Observatory and all those who defend the basic human rights of those who live in Syria, for their activity.
