Kurdish journalist Metin Atalaş (34) was found hanged on a orange tree in Adana. He was threatened to death couple of time before.
Atalaş was working for the Kurdish newspaper Azadiya Welat (Freedom for Country) which was banned many times before for writing in Kurdish and supporting the Kurdish freedom movement. Editors of the newspaper were jailed and the press organization RSF condemned the ‘persecution of the newspaper’.
The father of Alataş, Bekir Alataş declared that his son was murdered.
