PKK thinks an united voice in Baghdad is important

02-03-2010

Rudaw -The PKK-leader Murat Karayilan told the Kurdish press agency ANF that the PKK-organ KCK is neutral in the Iraqi elections. The PKK thinks a national Kurdish voice is important.

"The elections in Iraq are important, but we don’t support any party. Although there is not a complete democracy in Iraq and the south of Kurdistan, but it’s a good and positive step."

Karayilan said that journalists want to know from the PKK who they support. " We know that writers, intellectuals and journalists in the south of Kurdistan would like to know what the stance of the PKK is. Our stance is impartial.

Still the PKK leader said that the Kurdish lists should work together in the disputed regions like Kirkuk and Shengal, while the Kurdish lists are competing with each other. In these disputed regions its still not clear if they would fall under the authority of the Kurdistan region and the central government.

Karayilans declarations are surprising, because the PCDK, a party with political ties supports the Party of Servants of Kurdistan [Zahmetkeshan], that’s part of the Kurdistan Alliance of the ruling parties KDP and PUK.
