Istanbul - The Kurdish singer Rojda was arrested today by the Turkish police in Istanbul.

She was one of the 60 Kurdish artists invited by the Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan to talk about the government’s ‘democratic initiative’, which seeks to solve the Kurdish issue.

Rojda was arrested for allegedly making propaganda for a terrorist organization. She was arrested for singing the song ‘Heval Kamuran’ (Comrade Kamuran) on a festival in 2009 in the Kurdish city of Diyarbakir (Amed).
