Dr Rozh Shaways appointed as deputy PM of Iraq, local media

London (KurdishMedia.com) 11 January 2009: Dr Rozh Shaways has been appointed as the deputy prime minister of Iraq, according to the local media outlets.

Dr Shaways is a Kurd by ethnicity and is one of the prominent politicians of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, led by Massuad Barzani.

He is born in 1947 and has a PhD in engineering from a German university. Dr Shaways has been in many prominent and influential posts since the establishment of the Kurdistan Regional Government in 1992.

Dr Shaways is also from a prominent and well respected Kurdish family.
