London (KurdishMedia.com) 11 January 2009: On Sunday a cross organisational committee, which consisted of security services, judiciary department and health service, witnessed destroying 16 kilogram of narcotic materials in the city of Sulemani, reported Kurdish website Hawlati on Sunday.
This amount of the drug was confiscated by the security services during the months of April, May and June 2008. Four accused were arrested for transporting the illegal material. They are three Iraqi nationals and one Iranian. The local court senesced them, according to Hawlati, to life imprisonment.
With borders to Iran and Turkey, Kurdistan-Iraq is a region of transporting narcotics to the Middle East and Europe, according to experts.
